Today I was going to make some art buttons, but as I rummaged through my papers I saw some of the same wood pattern that I used on yesterdays TAD pages. I just was going to make faux bois buttons, but then as I was working on them I thought it might be more fun to turn them into magnets.

I have to shout out to Rosa for notifying me today that my Random Acts of Kindness painting was featured in an article on Etsy about…you guessed it…Random Acts of Kindness. Check it out here. It’s a great article with TONS of awesome feel good and RAOK links.

Today I did a couple more pages in my little book. The left page is covered in metallic blue star stickers and the right is watercolored, then sprinkled with salt for texture. On top of that was silvery glitter pen and pastels in swirls.
When I went to take the picture at first the camera didn’t focus. I retook it, but when I saw the blurry one I actually liked it because it kind of went with the dreaminess of the image, so I put them together for a diptych.
For the first time in my life I have laryngitis. I’ve always thought it would be cool to lose my voice, just to see what that was like. It’s kind of funny and it doesn’t hurt so no harm done. Matt says he enjoys it because now he can get a word in, lol.
I just realized it’s the second half of the month of February. Halfway through the Thing-a-Day challenge.

For today’s “thing” I bring you this picture I took. I cut out all the little hearts just for you.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today for my Thing-a-Day post I made this mixed media wearable art pendant. It’s your birthday and here’s confetti and the horse you’ve always wanted.
Robyn fun fact: I’ve never wanted a pony or a horse. I love animals, and I had my share of My Little Ponys when I was little, but I’ve never understood the whole wanting a horse thing. In fact this silhouette is traced from a zebra. Now, zebras are animal I can understand. Having a pet zebra would be a fashionable accessory to me = I love black and white stripes.
If you’ve always yearned for a horse, well, now is your chance. I’ve listed this pendant in my Etsy shop.
Today I worked on more pages in my mini book for my Thing-a-Day post.

Today was a very busy day. I have all these projects I’d like to do for Thing-a-Day but very little time to set aside for them. On top of that, the house is a mess, to-do lists a mile long and I have so many completed items that I’d like to photograph and add to my shop, but no daylight in which to photograph in.

Today I was so inspired by thing-a-dayer ninadinoff’s project “ring-a-day”. I took a couple years of metalwork classes and love-love-love rings. It’s funny because I’m not much for wearing jewelry, but I do love me a nice art ring. Anyway, seeing her projects and accompanying flickr group I ran to my book shelf and took down my 1000 Rings book, which then led me to taking down my Paper Jewelry book. The result was this sweet simple necklace made from watercolor paper punched holes, watercolors, a basic cotton string and silver findings. It wasn’t a tutorial from the book, but a combination of a few different designs.

Quick before I get to my thing-a-day, I just wanted to say 2 things. One- Last night I went to the local art league meeting and Natasha from Esther’s Place (a local fiber shop) spoke and demonstrated needle and wet felting. It was really cool to watch her layer on the fibers and I was surprised to see how similar to painting it could be. I was very inspired to explore felting some more. Two- I finally, finally, finally got my replacement check card (after “Lost Wallet Debacle of 2009″) and have decided to celebrate by reactivating my netflix account. If you are looking, you can find me crafting away with eyes peeled to the TV or computer monitor.
Okay, now back to our regular programming. Once again this is cross posted from the Thing-A-Day site, but I encourage you to please visit TAD and check out all the lovely things that other participants are making everyday. There’s lots of inspiration flying around over there.

Riffling through my jewelry the other day I found an old quilted ring I’d made years ago. I remembered how much fun they were to make, so, for today’s thing I worked on making more and decided to offer them in my shop online.

My previous Thing-a-day 2010 posts: Day One, Day Two, Day Three, Day Four, Day Five
Today I posted these mini collages for my thing-a-day. I just finished them pretty last minute, but what can you do, tonight was Lost night? You can read a bit more about them here.

Yesterday’s thing-a-day was some hand drawn buttons. I made and listed my signature balloon head buttons to my etsy shop. Some are happy, some are sad, so goes life.
I can’t wait till this weekend! Coraline comes out! If you haven’t visted the website already, you should check out the movie posters they did, each with a letter of the alphabet, they’re pretty great.
Just a few cool links I wanted to share:

It’s finally March and that means Thing A Day is complete! You can check out all my posts for the month here. It was fun, and I’m proud to have completed something to share each day. One thing I learned; it’s one thing to create something every day, and it is another, to have to photograph it, post it and write something about it. I will be glad to go back to working on whatever I want for now, big sigh.
Here is a link via design sponge (I think) about people who dress only in one color always. I really love hearing stories about eccentric people and the idea of wearing only one color, head to toe, everyday makes me wish I could do something like that. One woman wondered if it might be some sort of illness, as she has to wear that color head to toe, even including underwear to the soles of her shoes. Another one said they couldn’t fall asleep unless they were wearing their color. Very cool.
Last week, a coworker informed me that I am in a minority of 25% of the population that “suffers” from Photic Sneeze Reflex. Basically, light causes me to sneeze. I never knew that it was rare, I thought everyone was like this, although I have encountered people who thought I was crazy for thinking that light would make me sneeze. In fact my brother was in disbelief until matt found the above page. The funniest thing is that on that wiki page it says there is possible treatment for this disorder but “the oft pleasurable nature of sneezing means that there is less demand for solutions to the reflex.” Sneezing is fun, lol. Neither my brother or sister have this ability, but I swear my mom or dad must, because I remember one of them teaching me as a child to use to my advantage. When you have one of those sneezes that just won’t come out, you just open your eyes as wide as you can and look into bright light and you’ll sneeze.
