I like my pencils very sharp. Notice how the dull one might still be considered sharp to most people’s standards. I sketched this little beauty on scratch paper at work.
I love very small pencils. The only problem is, I erase A LOT. By the time the pencil gets down to being this small there is no eraser left and that’s sad.
After seeing this sketch Rosa reminded me of etsy seller, Jen Maestre, who makes the most wonderful sculpture and wearable art pieces. Pictured above, they are all made from colored pencils and can be found on her website www.jennifermaestre.com and at her etsy shop.
OOH she is one of my all time favorites. Definitely takes the school supply nerdiness to a whole new level. I also like my pencils very sharp, thank you. That was my OCD thing when I was a kid.
The question is… how do you keep the very pointy point from breaking? I always find that really frustrating when I sharp my pencils. when I was in college we used a lead holder like this one http://www.dickblick.com/products/sanford-turquoise-lead-holder/#photos and it had a little sharpener too http://www.dickblick.com/products/alvin-rotary-lead-pointer/ that always left the point so so pointy it always broke on the first line you drew, it made me so mad, I had to break the pointy thing somewhere else to save my drawing from complete ruin. but I do get it, pencils need to be sharp, otherwise the lines are all sloppy. I also sometimes use a box cutter sometimes to chisel the actual tip of the pencil into perfection. No wonder it takes me forever to finish anything, huh?
