Day 24 – business cards

Day 24 – business cards, originally uploaded by robayre.

For thing-a-day 24 I made business cards. Um, kind of. Well, an opportunity arose at work, where a print order came in for (3) 8.5×11″ 4-color sheets printed on cover stock. The press sheet holds (4) 8.5×11″s so there was an empty spot. I was putting it together and just couldn’t bring myself to waste the space, so last minute I started scrambling for images to print as business cards. I printed 6 business card images while ordering flyers to promote my business and my manager made a bookmark. Of course I went with some grass and some clouds, but I came across this image (today can be an adventure-chevron) I designed last year. I had originally planned on printing it poster size, and perhaps I still will, but in the meantime, I’ve now made business cards with it. The printing process takes a lot of time, which is why, unlike the printing service website www.dxprintingperth.com.au/bunbury-6230/, my business is still not able to provide same-day printing service.

These are just some samples that I cut down by hand, but when everything is trimmed, I will have 500 of each image. Now, what shall I do with 500 business cards of clouds, or grass? I’m not exactly sure, but I had an idea for a new challenge where I might try and come up with something new to do with them each day for a given period. For example, day one – I could create a stamp to print my info on the back, day two – I could write kind messages on the back and leave them out for people to find, day three – I could sew them through my sewing machine and make a bunting garland, and so on and so forth.

  1. Oh, I love them! The adventure one is so perfect a sentiment. Can you picture a bunch of the grass ones left in a field of grass? Cool!!
