Thing-a-day and printer obsession

Tomorrow, registration for “Thing-a-day” opens, I’m so excited. I had such a great experience last year, feeling so productive and really energized by the sense of community. I’m also excited by the challenge. If this month was a challenge posting daily here, can’t wait till next month when I try to continue posting daily here AND creating something new everyday to post there as well, oy vey! I’d love to invite all my bloggy friends to participate. I always love reading your posts and participating means new posts daily, ahh heaven.

This weekend after reading more and more about Polaroids possible rejuvenation, I was so driven to buy one of the polaroid pogos. Oh man, I want one so bad. We actually drove to Target and I had it in my hands, I drove with it in my cart to the front counter and at the last minute decided that it is not a neccessity, turned around and put it back on the shelf. I really should wait till a better time when I can afford it, rather than put it on a credit card. Times are tough and I am finally feeling the affects of the economic downturn in the last month or two. I had already made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t make any big purchases, until I feel I have really earned or deserve it. Perhaps when I get my tax refund :) I just know when I do finally get the pogo, it will mean that much more. Another thing is that while we were at Target, they actually had the canon selphy in stock, which is a compact canon printer (not as small as the pogo, but probably about a 1/4 of the size of my regular desktop printer.) It also doesn’t use ink cartridges and has smudge proof, water proof prints that can be printed straight from your camera. It was also $100 and I want it as well.

What on earth does a girl need 3 printers for? For fun, of course.

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).

  1. Wow Wow Rob, thanks for sharing! I always learn something new when I read your blog. Keep on passing on this super cool and up to date info. That Pogo gadget is neat. Is the kicker for kids to make stickers and trade or something? I can see mom’s using this at BDay parties and such.

  2. We have had a selphy for a few years… it is easy to carry and is cost effective. I haven’t seen too much color shift on prints that are 3 years old, and on a bulletin board. I did the same thing, as you, with the POGO… decided after walking around Best Buy- that it was not a necessity- and I really do love the selphy. Plus…there have been many products that Polaroid releases and then discontinues after a few years… so I don’t want to take that gamble :)
