Into the Wild

One of my favorite books is going to made into a movie. Into the Wild is a non-fiction book based on life and tragic end of Chris McCandless. I can’t believe they made a movie of this book. You can see the trailor here.

I got an email from Nikki today. She seems in really great spirits and I am so glad for it. Tom is with her and I imagine that is making a world of difference. As I often do when she is out of town, I’ve been watching her house. It makes me feel like I have purpose, if I can’t be with her now. She has started her treatments and seems ready to face the battle. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers, as her treatments will be going steadily and heavily for at least the next three months.

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).

  1. I like figuring out how authors create names for their characters. The first thing I noticed in the name Chris McCandless is “candle” – as in “light the way.” But, he is candle-less so he cannot find his way. “Mc” means “son of.” “Chris” means “Christ bearer.” Basically the characters name illustrates that Chris’ father could not find his way in life and Chris is there to show him how to live fully by giving up his own.

I saw the trailer and it seems to fit. What do you think?

  2. wow! That would be amazing if the author thought of that name, but this in a non-fiction and it is based on a real person, so that probably makes it even more amazing.
