ipodx3=excess

Best feeling in the world (at least for today): when the jeans I’ve been wearing for months feel like brand new pairs because they are starting to fit more loosely.

Aaaahh, the Couch to 5K program is coming along, I’m on week 3, workout 3. And I think I might hang out here an extra workout just to be sure. I’ve read not to read ahead in the program and psych yourself out by thinking “I can’t do it”.

This weekend I went from one ipod to three. Saturday, after reading about the damage that can be done to a regular ipod when used during runs, I decided that might have been what killed my first ipod. With my commitment to exercise going strong I decided to reward myself and buy a ipod shuffle. Then on Sunday, or was it Monday, my sister lent me this hook thing used to open up ipods to aid in replacing defective batteries. So I opened up my old dead ipod to take a peek inside. I saw the hard drive and battery, pressed some squishy thing, and then low and behold, IT WORKS! So now I have a 40 gig third generation ipod, an 80 gig video ipod and now a shuffle. I haven’t taken the shuffle out of the packaging because I was going to save it as a reward for using the gym BEFORE work. Now I am debating, do I really need 3 ipods? Of course not, but the shuffle would be so great for running, it’s small, I would stop accidentally pulling out my ear buds and I wouldn’t have to worry about destroying a large ipod. For that price, of returning the shuffle, I could buy a really nice new pair of running shoes to replace the ones I’ve been using since 2001. Hmmm, quandary.

See, I’ve Got a Four Leaf Clover…

Today Matt and I went four leaf clover hunting. I found my very first four leaf clover and in all found 4 and matt found 2. I should have a lot of good luck coming my way. Matt has already used up his luck when he found a wii on the store shelves.

So here are our wii characters taken on my junkie camera phone.

I really need to post the cool stuff I get on etsy here more often. I was so excited about this wool that arrived today! It is by etsy seller artclub and there were even surprises wrapped up inside. I have been in such a wool spinning mood lately. Spinning wool, buying wool, dyeing wool, I can’t get enough.

Collage at the Fine Line

I am a very bad blogger. When I had my old moblog I used to post fairly frequently. Have I been blogged out, I hope not. It is not up anymore, but when I would go through those old posts on the moblog I always felt I had good things to write about, not just a log of what I have done. Which seems to be what this blog is mainly about, blah.

This last weekend I nervously attended my first Collage Sisthars meeting at the Fine Line. For a shy person like myself that means I felt like the new girl at school. The session was to teach us about using resin, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I had even bought materials such as resin, mold makers and a book previously, but just never used them. Everyone seemed pretty friendly and wanting to learn and create, and I felt like I was surrounded by common ilk. I made a couple things at the meeting, unfortunately transferring them home before they were set goofed them up. But now I feel confident to make more things on my own time. Another lesson I recalled at the meeting is that it is very difficult for me to be productive in a classroom setting. I am usually too distracted by those around me and too shy to work on stuff in front of others. It’s like a right brain, left brain thing. I was just so excited to have learned this stuff but all I wanted to do was rush home and work on stuff there, rather than at the meeting. They have meetings once a month so hopefully I’ll be able to come back and bring a friend or two with me.

Jen Corace and YMCA

Today I got this mini print in the mail along with a t-shirt with the same design on it from Tiny Showcase. It is my second print of Jen Corace’s artwork. I also have a print of this, which I absolutely love.

I recently found this on the web and am going to try and follow it. I’ve always had this small goal of wanting to be able to run a mile straight. Well, if I can follow this 8 week program I should be able to run 3! Also, my best friend and I joined the YMCA which I am pretty excited about. Free classes, great equipment, and personal trainers! I have several friends who belong to the Y and they have much better hours than the Rec (which I used to belong to) and so I am really hoping to make some big physical strides.

who got me sick?

I got sick last week, it started with a scratchy throat monday and had I known what was coming I would have been popping airbornes and echinacea like crazy.. Tuesday I woke up and had a full on sore throat that made it difficult to not only swallow but breathe and I had so much work to do that week so I couldn’t stay home and rest. Wednesday the sore throat was gone but was replaced by a fever and runny, stuffy nose. Friday the fever was gone but I still have the horrible cough and congestion. Most days I just came home after work and slept till the next morning. I have so many things that I want to work on (what’s new?) and being sick and weak and exhausted is not very conducive to productiveness. Yet, I was still able to finally finish this piece I’ve been working on forever and mail it out to a friend.

Last night was a Maker’s Art Group meeting and we had 2 guests, our former Art teacher and his wife. We had a good time as usual. I just wanted to share something that has become a tradition within the last couple meetings. We meet at the local Borders and usually sit in the section that used to be Art but is now Religion/Spirituality and Movies/Music. Two meetings ago we were drawn to this biography with a large portrait of a yogi on the cover. Each one of us drew a quick sketch and then when we left we put the drawings in the front cover of the book. This time the drawings were of the Dahli Lama and put into his autobiography. It is kind of fun to think who might open these books and what their response to the sketches are. Hopefully it catches them off guard, excites them for a short time at least, and maybe even gets them thinking about ways to spice up their life or those around them in unexpected ways.

Lastly, the weekend before this one, Erica and I took a day trip and rode trains to chicago and then to evanston and back. In evanston we went to The Paper Source, yum, and I got a couple cool books, and some great papers that have me excited about making some more books in this style. I had such a great time making the first one and I can’t wait to make more.
