sweet dreams

It’s after 10 pm and I should be asleep. School is back in session and that means one thing to me, my occasional early shift at work to put the local universities newspaper to press at 2 am.

I did sleep for 3 or 4 hours earlier this afternoon, but then woke up and now I’m finding it impossible to go back to sleep. I’d try to go straight through the night if I knew that I wouldn’t crash at 11 am and waste the rest of my “day off” sleeping. I just hate not being productive.

Since I’m speaking of sleep, here is another mailart postcard titled Sweet Dreams. I used watercolor and salt to get the background texture to resemble the night sky, my handy-dandy Kemper drawing pen from Rosa to make the swirls and “waves”. The whole piece is highlighted with silvery glimmer and shimmers her and there and Aluminum foil tape spelling out Sweet Dreams.

I still have yet to send any of these postcards out in the mail. I’m working on it, but will announce where each one goes as I send them and they are received. Part of the fun of mailart is the surprise of finding it in your mailbox.

Time to get a few winks before heading into work, goodnight.

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
